"Mint and Friends" (detail)

"Mint" is one of many of the Blue Murmer line of fine horses. Pictured here on the front lawn where horses are not allowed, the gang has escaped during the night and come morning they are all here approvingly admired by Mr. Chips, the man of the house. This complicated commission of a group of horses of different sizes and ages was even more difficult as the horses could never be viewed together. The background looks away to Mt. Pisgah in the Great Smokey Mountains.
