"Amanda and Ashley" (detail)

Amanda and Ashley are sisters who each wanted the other in their portrait. ( see "Ashley and Amanda") They picked the place they wanted for their background, what they would wear etc, and surprised their parents and everyone with their choices. We had been having incredible skies with deeply contrasting clouds that in looking at this painting, most people say it couldn't look like that. But Amanda and Claudia saw it. Also Amanda was small for this great mare and by pulling her forward and not showing the entire horse, we are able to meet and visit Amanda.
